Corvallis, Oregon
The first test for Washington on the road to the AMTA National Champtionship came this past weekend in Corvallis, Oregon at the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament. After the strongest invitiational season in program history, the Huskies continued their success by securing two bids to the Opening Round Championship in Memphis, Tennessee.

Team 1237 finished third. Starting hot right out of the gates, UW had a strong round against in-state rival Washington State. Next, the Huskies beat the Portland Pilots. After climbing to the top of the tournament bracket, 1237 lost two close ballots to Gonzaga A, but rebounded to win big against Reed College.

Team 1238 had an even better showing. After splitting a tense round with Gonzaga B, the Dawgs won the next three rounds outright against Gonazaga C, Idaho A, and UC Berkeley B, the tournament favorites! 1238 tied for the best record overall, losing their only ballot by one point.

Several members were awarded for their individual performances. Closing for 1238, Amy Hersh and Matt Wallace took home their first awards. Freshman Grant Magdanz, portraying the defendant, also won his first award. On 1237, the attorney/witness combo of Stephan Yhann and Landon Whitbread netted each an individual award on the plainttiff. Overall, the Huskies took home more hardware than any other school in attendance.

Next up is the Opening Round Championship in Memphis near the end of March. UW has already had success in the Volunteer state this season: the Husky mockers won and finished fifth at Vanderbilt's Commodore Classic.
